She said it has to be black and over 20"..

joking aside, she really needs a new setup. Her crappy 17" just isnt cutting it.

I'm stuck at what to get her. She teaches online and does a bunch of work at the computer. She also does graphic work as a hobby on the side. Her main concern is losing the ability to do web design layouts for smaller monitors if shes working on a 20" or greater. She wants to be able to check how her layout is gonna look on smaller resolutions..

So now onto the choices

Two 22"s -

One 24" along with her existing 17" - does this pose problems?

Then theres also the discussion of panels because of her design hobby. TN might not be so great for color.

There are so many choices. What would you do?

in all seriousness id just get two 22's. she will love you and will be able to see all 20 inches... she can always just get a KVM switch and when she wants to see what it looks like switch it to the 17 she has.

Buy 2 22's, and put the 17 next to them (I hope its an LCD, otherwise throw it out (by which I mean recycle it; CRTs are killing the environment)). For web development she can install the Web Developer Toolbar extension for Firefox, and change the window to be different sizes.

Get 2 22"' that are PVA. For graphic work its much better and graphical work I suppose you would have more work area. You could always keep the 17" alongside 2 22" monitors. If you don't have 3 outputs you could always buy a cheap PCI video card for $5.
