I got my $15 maker, pound of coffee, and two mugs today at work, as the coffee that's free and provide is absolute crap. I'm eager to try the coffee but too bad I already drank my fill today. 🙁 Does anyone that has done this offer, actually stay in and get the scheduled deliveries? Too expensive? We got the "Breakfast Blend" and "Signature Blend"

I just didn't like the shipping charges. Never tried either one of those blends. I had scheduled deliveries for a year and a half. Kinda cool, they usually sent along a small sample of one of the other flavors.

There's much better coffee to be had, especially if you're willing to roast and grind your own beans. There's simply no substitude for freshly roasted beans.

Of course there's better coffee to be had, but Jamaican Blue Mountain is expensive.
And self-grinding/roasting adds a bit more effort to the whole process. I'm still considering going that route a while down the road, however.

Any tips? I've never ground or roasted my own...

Get an excellent burr grinder and a roaster. Read CoffeeGeek for more information.

You don't have to have JBM to have excellent coffee. You can buy excellent green espresso blends for ~$6. The initial investment in equipment is fairly substantial, but it's well worth it.

5bux for a little wee bag thats not that fresh. true sealed bags have a one way valve on top...fresh coffee puts out c02.

I enrolled for the free maker (which is pretty nice - I have used it for about 3 years). I thought the coffee was pretty good, but not a good enough value to stay enrolled. I enjoy coffee, but not anywhere near enough to roast it myself, which seems like an expensive hassle from a cost/benefit standpoint.

Haha, yeah I was thinking the same thing after looking at CoffeeGeek 😉

Suit yourselves, but if you ever had a shot of my espresso or a cup of my coffee you'd quickly change your minds 🙂 Of course, coffee is something I greatly look forward to every day, and I understand not everyone is like that. This is the machine I use.

If you change your mind check out Sweet Marias or Coffee Bean Corral.

Yote, Just tried the "Breakfast Blend" It's pretty darned tasty! Although not worth the crappy shipping costs... so i'll try and find something else! anyone use those machines at like stop and shop that have all the beans and a grinder? how good's that stuff?

I've been pretty happy with the Millstone blends they have at Wal-mart/Alberstons/etc...
The Nicaraguan Mountain something-or-other is pretty tasty. Some of them will also have Sumatran Mandheling, which is also really good.
I've just got the Gevalia coffee maker and a Mr. Coffee Espresso maker, but the results from the espresso are quite tasty, and all my guests seem to be surprised by the quality.

What a coincidence! I just got a Gevalia coffee maker through their trial program this week! It's great and brews some good coffee. 🙂
