Put my site up last month to advertise I do On-Site computer repair locally. I submitted the URL to all the usual search engines and got indexed. Right now my position is horrible, almost unable to find my site without typing in the exact url. I know it isn't an overnight process to get the ranking up in the top 30. But, I'm probably going about it all wrong. And I don't think waiting around for it to jump up will do anything.

So I googled for info and found a bunch of sites trying to sell me expensive PDF books or software to help me increase my position on the search engines. I have no problem buying something that'll actually provide some useful information. But a lot of the sites look real suspect as just marketing a crappy product. I don't wanna drop money if I'm unsure.

My site's content doesn't change. The goal is to get the url listed for people searching for onsite service in this area. Right now results for my url are really grim, in Google I don't think my page came up in the first 10 pages of results when I typed "on-site computer repair in Inland Empire"

I'm lookin into Google Adsense and other PPC services, but first I just want to get my basic listing higher up.

money wise, I'd pay for something like WebPosition software if it's good, only reviews I find are from the scam'ish looking sites who probably make a comission if you buy.
