Getting wisdom teeth removed tomorrow. Any tips?

I am getting all of my 4 teeth removed tomorrow morning. Are there any tips of stuff that I should not do?

So far a couple:

1) Do not hookers and blow
2) Not to suck in my mouth.

What else have you guys got?

Read the other 400 threads we already have on the subject.

Also, get someone to drive you, and make sure you pickup the drugs on your way home.
Trust me, they help.

Don't get a dry socket, that's worse than getting shot.

The question is, how NOT to get a dry socket?
How do people get them usually?

Do you celebrate Christmas? I hope not; hate to not be able to eat on a major holiday. 😛

Hmm. :hmm:

This is already planned.

Don't smoke, don't suck a straw, swallow the blood (don't dab it or you will get a dry socket), eat only soft foods, and enjoy the meds!

Lay down and watch a shit ton of movies. Keep your head elevated too. (Angled vertically, ya know?) Try to not get a lot of spit built up in your mouth, but don't fucking do anything that creates suction to get rid of it... SUCTION IS YOUR WORST ENEMY.

Start thinking about REALLY soft foods. I mean like dissolves on your tongue... Ultra mashed potatoes.

Also, depending on how things go, you may or may not be able to actually open your mouth much at all. I could barely fit a spoon in my mouth to get the god damn mashed potatoes in because my jaw was all fucked up. My teeth did not go more than spoon width open. (And I am talking the small spoon width way)

It's different for everyone. Some people say it doesn't hurt during the procedure, but does afterwards. It was the opposite for me. I was eating solid foods the same day too.

I was just mocking whoever the user was that had 8 threads in 2 days about how horrific it was getting his wisdom teeth removed. Personally I had mine removed about 4 years ago and it was nothing, don't smoke or drink anything through a straw, if you are in pain take your meds and ice any swelling you got going on. I was able to eat ribs the day after they were removed and didn't take any of my pain meds. The whole procedure is very YMMV, some people walk it off and some people can't move for 2 weeks from it.

Makes a difference if they are through the skin or not too. I had 3 removed (dentist said one was being "used" and displace any other teeth, so they left it). The top 2 were not through the skin yet, and I had zero pain and zero issues with them. The one bottom one was broken through and took a little longer to heal. A bit of blood but not much and not much pain.

TridenT- This will be the first time I am going to trust you.

Thanks for the advices and insights so far!

All of my 4 teeth are not surfaced.

I am ready. Lets go!

I'm getting mine pulled on Friday. 2 this week 2 next week.
All of mine are fully out 😵. Having a nice steak meal tomorrow night.

I had mine taken out, and it was great. I probably waited more than I should have, one of them stopped growing and was decaying, fortunately that didn't spread to other teeth, and it was great to get rid of it since it would sometime smell bad. Didn't take any painkillers after the surgery at all. Just use that syringe if you get food stuck in there.

how long did it take to heal ?

Don't take your pain killers on day two at the reguler scheduled time. Hold off a few hours. Once you've been forced to feel the pain, the bliss of taking a dose of legal narcotics will just blow you away... Masochist.

Mine had not erupted yet, and two of them were impacted sideways. They had to split them in half with a chisel to get them out. I asked for them to check them out and it was 6 pieces!
I remember going in, getting gassed, and waking up in another room. "how did I get here?"
you walked
"oh bullshit"
LOL

I had mine removed about 6 weeks ago. The one thing I would differently is that I would use ice packs more. I didn't really have too much discomfort until day 3. That discomfort was due to swelling of my gums and once they swelled, I couldn't get them to reduce.

I don't remember exactly, a month or so. I think the trouble tooth took quite a bit longer to heal than the others, because there was decayed tissue in the gums that had to heal. I was a bit worried I'd get a dry socket, but fortunately it sealed.

hm.. atleast i'll have 4 days to recover then go back for the next one the following friday and have another 4 weekend to recover.

Ask for a syringe, and rinse out the socket with saline after you eat.

They should give you a syringe with a curved tip that you can use to keep anything out of the socket(s) while they heal. If they don't give you one head for your local drug store and get one. A Monoject 412 will work just fine.
