Getting Whois info on a site

I used Namecheap's Whois tool, but it came up with no info, but the name is taken. How does that work? When's the soonest i can buy it and is there an admin contact?

Several registration companies offer private registration now. As long as you've given them valid information, I think they just list themselves in whois.

If that's not the case, the name could be expired but still held as a courtesy by the reg co, trying to get the old owner to renew.

You might want to double check the whois listing at www.nsi.com (network solutions)
