Getting video on Compaq C700 but no backlight even w/ new LCD + new inverter???

This is kind of a cross post, but I'm running out of time and need help and no responses yet in the notebook forum, soooo......

Cliff notes -----

Compaq C700 15.4" and video comes thru perfectly on either old LCD (which we thought blew bulb). New inverter didn't help. New LCD didn't help. I don't know why else the light bulb wouldn't light.

Bump!

Can something fail on the motherboard that allows the video signal to go all the way to the LCD but not allow the power portion of that signal pass thru to the inverter to light the bulb?
