I have had comcast for about 13 months and it was working fine for about 9 months. But one day I was playing my xbox 360 online and I was lagging on every game I played. I went online to pingtest.net and tested my ping and sure enough my ping was over 100 with over 100 jitter as well, and it has been like this for 4 months now. This has been happening every single day it usually starts at about 4:00 P.M and doesn't go away until 1 A.M. My ping goes from like 20 ms to about 150 to 300 ms. The same is true with my download speed and upload speed. Basically between these hours my internet sucks. I have called comcast numerous times and have had 3 different technicians come to my house but so far nothing has helped and it actually seems like it is getting worse. I have have tried swapping my modem and I have everything connected directly to the modem no router or anything. I'm not sure what could be causing this issue but it's driving me crazy and I am very close to canceling my internet because I haven't been able to play any games online in 4 months. any help anyone can offer would be very much appreciated.

4 PM to 1 AM is peak usage time for most people. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Comcast simply oversold the service in your area and can't keep up with the demand for bandwidth during that time.

If it is an issue of to many people online in my area does that mean there is nothing I can do? And no there is no other devices. I live alone so it's only me And I have everything connected directly to the modem

what are you pinging? their gateway? you have firewall software?

icmp is not a good test - pretty much everyone sets icmp response to low QOS.

what are your actual rates looking like during low ping/ high ping

i get about 45/7 during night and about 30/5 during the day (business park so its opposite) docsis 2.0

That sounds like your ISP is oversold. Nothing you can do. If the latency doesnt start until you are outside of your network its the isp and nothing you can do
