Getting two PS3 games, not sure on the second one.

I'm going to order two PS3 games soon from Amazon with some gift cards I have.

I'm 100% getting BioShock 2 but I'm not decided what to get for the second one.

I'm debating between, Dante's Inferno, Uncharted 2 and maybe Heavy Rain.

What does everyone thing would be the better choice for the second game?

Is there some other amazing game that's come out in the past year or is coming out soon that I'm not thinking of?

I did play Dante's Inferno demo and enjoyed it enough but not sure if it's something I'd rather just pick up down the road for $20 or something.

I have Drake's Fortune 1 currently and am nearing the completion of it and do really like the game overall.

Heavy Rain, I'm not sold, seems kind of like a love it or hate it kind of game and I'm afraid I'll be someone that ends up hating it.

It's not a huge rush to get the second game so I'm OK waiting a few months if something amazing is around the corner.

Uncharted 2 is an amazing title. The game is literally the best looking title available on PS3, arguably on all systems. The levels are spectacular, and the gameplay is awesome to boot. If you like Uncharted one, you'll love U2. There is even multiplayer, which is really fun to co-op in.

Dante's Inferno just looks like a crappier GoW ripoff to me, and I don't like GoW.

Heavy Rain was awesome from the demo, but as you said, it is a love it or hate it. Once you get engrossed, the reviews say you forget about controls (if that is a niggle), but otherwise, it is supposed to be an amazing game. I'll be picking it up right after BF:BC2 (another one to look into).

There are demos of all 3 up on PSN. Have you tried any of them? Uncharted 2 is merely alright and only worth one playthrough, I'd wait for a price-drop on that one myself.

I haven't been crazy about Uncharted 2 after an hour, but most reviews love it.

My favorite PS3 games have been Little Big Planet, Dragon's Age, and Burnout: Paradise though I don't usually like driving games much. I don't care for most consoley games.

I assume you have played the old game Portal? Great game, but might be short.

IMO Dante's Inferno wasn't good at all and Heavy Rain was an interesting take on a "game". I'm glad I didn't purchased these games like I wanted to but they are decent rentals.

Out of the games you listed, Uncharted 2 hands down. It's still probably my favorite PS3 game out now.

Fallout 3 is my favourite PS3 game so far...

Dante's Inferno is definitely a GoW-type game... if you liked God of War then you will probably like it... not to mention it has boobies and a darker theme...

NCAA 09 is awesome (haven't tried '10, i heard the camera angles were crap or something) and you can pick that up for cheap if you like college football....

I've watched video of the Heavy Rain demo... not really my style of game as it seems to be an adventure game with some quicktime events mixed in....

Infamous was pretty cool but now that I have played some other titles, it feels like a kid's game...

I'm playing Uncharted 1 right now but I really don't care for it that much... mind you I am still in the beginning stages of the game since I only have about an hour into it... I'm sure it will pick up......

So far for me, I would have to say that Fallout 3 has been my fav.... but I haven't played many of the newer titles. Good luck in your search... there's no shortage of amazing games to choose from 🙂

Personally, my favorite PS3 game is Demon's Souls. I've gotten 100+ hours out of that game...more than any other recent game I've played. It is an extremely unique action RPG with pretty interesting gameplay and online mechanics. The game well pretty well received by both reviewers and players, which is unusual for such a low key game. There are some threads about it on the forum.

There is also Valkyria chronicles, a FPS/RTS/RPG hybrid that is very fun and also very well reviewed. It should be pretty cheap about now.

Finally, there is Ratchet and Clank. These games are simple shooter fun.

Out of the three listed, though, I would say Uncharted 2 is probably the best bet. However, did you play the original Uncharted first? If not, then you probably should.

Heavy Rain is also a good game, but Uncharted 2 is more universally liked, due to Heavy Rain's unusual style.

Dante's inferno got panned by most reviewers, and from what I've heard it is a sub-bar meshing of grade A action games like God of War.

Uncharted 2 or Demon's Souls. I'd otherwise say Bayonetta, but the 360 version is apparently the correct one to get. Leave Heavy Rain and Dante for rentals.

Uncharted 2 will have the most replay value, might as well get it. Or better yet Dante's Inferno, beat it, then trade it for Uncharted 2.

From what I saw, Dante's Inferno is a shallow GOW clone. Heavy Rain is good but won't have much replay value.

I'd get Uncharted 2 definitely. Game of the year for 2009 across all platforms IIRC. Then wait for God of War 3 in March.

uncharted 2, by far. 🙂 i spent $40 on it, and goddamn, it blew me away. its worth it just to play the ***** sequence - it is fan-fucking-tastic.

Well I just finished Uncharted 1 and play a few mins of the demo for Uncharted 2 and it's clear how improved everything is in the second one, when already the first one was a great game.

That sells me.

Thanks for the replies!

I don't have Uncharted Drake's Fortune yet, and I decided not to play the Uncharted 2 campaign until I beat that one, so I've just been playing multiplayer and it's probably the most fun I've had with the PS3 so far.

Here are my favorites.

GTA4 - Hands down the best single player game I have ever played. It is so fun to be so bad and very replayable. Hours just driving around killing people and escaping police with no real motive. If a game is that fun... well that's quite a game!

Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds - Hands down the most fun and competitive online multi-player sports game I have ever played. This game was released in the USA to critical acclaim, but with no marketing support, so it is unfortunately dying here, but has a hardcore following. I do not recommend buying this game, but I do recommend buying the Japanese version, Minna No Golf 5. It is identical to the American/European version (can get a version with English menus), but has many more thousands of players in Japan, where it is one of the more popular sports series. This game is an absolute gem!

Demon's Souls - The hardest video game ever invented, and a damn good one at that. Have to play it to experience it, but be warned, you will get frustrated with this game, but if you can get past the first couple levels, you will find great reward. Epic!

Fallout 3 - Good fun. Very replayable due to the karma system.

MW2 - The best gameplay physics of the entire series. Only falls short due to NP bot weapons and lack of dedicated server support, still one hell of a FPS. Very good looking, and fluid even at 1080p. Nuking people for fun and profit!

COD: World at War - Same physics as above but a better and more atmospheric shooter. I do love the WWII theme.

Since you asked about up and comers, I am intensely interested in RUSE. Look it up. The trailers and dev vids I have seen make this look like the most brilliant RTS ever.

God of War 3 is coming soon if you're in to that. Don't know what else. Was waiting on MAG, but that looks like a huge letdown, so I'm not buying.

thanks for those comments... i definitely need to pick up Demon's Souls and the Hot Shots game... 😎

I have to echo the Demon's Souls reccomendation. Either that or uncharted 2 but if you are man enough definitely get Demon's Souls.

It is the most unique current gen game I can think of and is excellent. Definitely very hard but not in an unfair way. When you die, it is always your own fault.

I have HSG-OOB, and played it a good bit. I don't play many sports games, but I found this one quite fun.

I don't play it online though. And, although I've unlocked all the golphers, I still have a few courses I haven't cleared yet.

That last level is kind of nasty. But, I guess going weeks to months between actually playing the game (and consequently, completely forgetting how to play the game) isn't helping me any.

edit - oh, I should note. I liked it enough to give another golf game, super swing gold season 2 for the wii a try. Which is actually impressive since my nintendo wii has been sitting there untouched since a week after I bought it.

After slicing everything to the right, I finally turned off the motion control and just using the buttons to play, and it got alot more fun 😛

yeah that game is definitely a purchase for me. i have Tiger 2010 but I never play it anymore.

i stopped playing Fallout 3 and am going to continue once I finish Uncharted...

Uncharted started out slow and it felt remedial... but the game has picked up and graphically it is quite pleasing.

i also need to pick up GTA4... it can probably be found for quite cheap 🙂

wow much love in this thread for hot shots golf! honestly it is probably my favorite golf game of all time, i've put ssooo many hours into it. its probably my most played ps3 game as well and i'm rocking around 10 ps3 games.

online is a blast with friends and the tournaments are fun too, although the community is pretty dead now. i still play it online every now and then and get hooked again.

and if you have a ps3 and don't have uncharted, you're doing it wrong!

Like many others here, I highly recommend Demon's Souls. I usually never pick up games for full retail price on the release date, but I did for Demon's Souls and don't regret it for a second.

If you're not against a game that's actually challenging and are into 3rd person action/RPG gameplay, this IS the game for you. 🙂
