im getting a new tv shipped over to my parents house(lg 50pk750). anyway the plan is to get it shipped there and load it onto my dads truck to bring to my apt. ill be at work so my dad will sign for it but i wanted to know since it will not be unboxed until we get inside my apt is there any way to protect myself in case there is damage when it gets to my home? i dont want to unbox the thing only to find out something broke during transit and we're unable to do anything for it since my dad signed for it.

i actually bought a Pioneer PDP-5020FD(great tv) last year, just unboxed it at my home and didnt find anything wrong but i have heard of situations where stuff was broke in transit and the purchaser was screwed because he signed off on the delivery without inspecting it.

thanks

look for damage to the box. If there is any have your dad refuse to sign unless you can open it and inspect for damage. My dad ordered something, i think it was 2 lenses for his nikon dslr, and the box had squished corners. The UPS guy actually told my dad to open the box to inspect for damages.

other thn that i dunno. Just look at the box, if theres no squishing of cardboard (minus edges) then i wouldnt worry to much. if theres any rips, tears, or the front and back look to have been squished at all then i would worry. Squished corners=personal choice. I know Styrofoam goes around the edges so minor damage on corners of the box is probably not a big deal.
