Getting the upgrade bug. Is it still ok for 1151 mobos?

Been getting the upgrade itch. Currently have an 1150 system with 32gb DDR3 and a 4790k.

Is it too late to go for an 1151 board? Whats coming out to replace it and when?

I don't do AMD cpu. So please don't recommend.

Intel 370 and soon 390 series boards are still LGA1151.

I'd wait a bit and see what the 390 boards look like and see what's up with the coming 8 core cpu.

Rumor has it that the 390s are just tweaked 370 chipsets renamed to 390.

If you have to buy now, then you want a 370 board and an 8700K chip.

Wait and see indeed. 1151 is a bit on shaky ground right now, Intel essentially pulled a "Tualatin stunt" just a few months ago when they announced that you needed new chipsets to use Coffee Lake processors, despite them using the same socket. Even for the 4 core, i3 parts.
There's a supposed 8 core on the way, possibly branded i9 instead of i7. Wait and see what happens with the chipsets/socket at that time and then decide.

RAM is also very expensive at this time, expect to pay an arm and a leg for 32GB DDR4. Is there something you wish to do in particular that the 4790k feels unsatisfactory with?

There may be two new nVidia video cards soon: GTX 1170 & 1180, supposedly around August 20, or so.
There are also reports that Intel won't be providing a Z390 chipset after all. A "Z370 - Mark II" chipset, or something like that, may arrive instead.

Yeah I mean, 4790K with 32GB RAM, fast SSD, and graphics card is still hanging pretty well with 7th or 8th gen Core.
