Man, Fire Fox has become real slow lately. I don't think its the web or the servers hosting the sights, i think the big Microsoft is screwing Fire Fox in order to make people switch from it back to IE

Firefox on three of my machines (2 home and 1 work) has been slow as heck. If I try to do anything intensive, say a few flash videos, it crashes.

MS fucking with Firefox? Give me a break, Firefox has been slow for over 2 years. The project started as a nice, fast browser but has turned into a bloated mess. Put away the tin foil.

Welcome to 1998. I, and many like me, are convinced MS screwed with Netscape to kill it.

What evidence do you have to support your theory?

You had to reinstall because of an Operating System drive?

Willing to bet money JujuFish was right.

Firefox has become bloated, it's only worth using for some of the 3rd party add-ons. Try chrome for a lightweight browser.

This here.

As it works fine for me and my system is a little over 7 years old now. Hell, it even runs on a crappy pos Dell that almost 9 years old with 256MB fine too. Works even better if you tweak a few things in about:config and slap on some add-ons.

NO. It was slow before. And after I switched my old 36g Ultra 320 SCSI drive to this 300g V-Raptor, its the same... clean install, no addons...

On a slightly related note, I just installed Safari 4 under and it's pretty damn fast. Scored a 100/100 on the Acid3 test too.

Maybe you're just imagining it. that or there are some issues with your connection in your area.

worst case post up the problem sites and we'll see.

If microsoft wanted to screw with firefox why would they want till now?

1) Firefox IS slow. It has been since whatever version was right before 2.0 and will just keep getting slower with all the junk they keep dumping into it.

2) You have SCSI hardware and you can't figure out why FF is slow?

You still have yet to provide evidence to show that Microsoft is deliberately sabotaging Firefox to drive people back to IE. You fail. Box up your computer and return it to the store. Please.

Profile says you're in Ohio.

TimeWarnerCable, or RoadRunner internet, perhaps?
