Getting the best out of my hardware

Hiya, so after all this is said and done, this is the setup I ended up with for now:

AMD 4200+
ASUS A8N-E
ATI Radeon X1900XTX
Arctic Cooling Accelero X2
2x Seagate Barracude 300GB 7200.9 16MB/11MS
OCZ EL Platinum PC3200 2GB DDR400
Enermax Liberty 500W
SB X-FI Xtreme Music
BenQ DW1650
Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000

I was wondering any general tips to get the best out of this setup? I didn't see any pre-made guides, so I decided to post instead.

Thanks~

Make sure before you build the rig you do the following:

1.) Put on socks
2.) Rub your feet vigorously along the carpet for 2 minutes
3.) Unpack your motherboard and begin building the machine

This will give you the best results.

 Please don't do this if you're actually thinking he means it. This was hilarious though.

Take your time, read the owner's manual and please ground yourself. The other fellows are having a little fun at your expense.

Here's a 1st PC Build link

Just click on it, hope this helps!

I think I was misunderstood here.

I'm not asking how to physically build the computer, I'm asking steps towards getting the best out of it when I am done building.

I mean, come on, who doesn't know to put on socks and rub your feet on the carpet before every piece of hardware installation.

Things such as : Any settings I should change? Any peticular hdd partition/setup? Should I bother OCing? (I built this thinking I wouldn't, but does my system allow for any of it?).

Little things like that I am wondering.

Thanks!

There is no right or wrong answer to those types of questions... some people want to partition their hard drive and some people do not wanna partition their hard drives as well as some people wanna overclock and the others do not wanna overclock. I generally keep everything stock... no overclocking no partitioning default installation paths and to me I'm happy with that but to others they may read this and cringe... So the questions you are asking are all personal preferences...

The only thing I could say that you could do is tweak around your BIOS but I do not know what BIOS. There are Windows XP tweaks but they do not do crap besides make XP look much worse then it already is LoL

hmm theres not much u can do besides the obvious. install anti virus, anti spyware, update windows, install all the latest drivers, make sure you're in the right bios, then install all your misc games/programs. turn up the settings in your CCC and enjoy the beautiful quality of Ati x1x00 cards
