Getting the Apple 30inch LCD on to a PC?!

I am just wondering if it would be possible to connect the new Apple 30inch behemoth to a PC?
Apple's site and official statement says in order to drive this baby, you must also buy the GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL, which also happens to be an Apple exclusive.
http://www.apple.com/displays/digital.html
So, I am wondering does the PC versions have Double Dual-Link DVI? Is this feature only available on the Ultra? I mean could it be on a GT? Or is this thing just standard fare marketing hype to sucker out the super rich who have no idea what they are paying for?
Of course, Apple's official statement also says this monitor would not work on the PC. Well, they said the same thing about my 23inch. Therefore I am really skeptical about it this time.

There is not a dual-link 6800Ultra for the PC.

Here is a list of Nvidia cards that supports dual-link for PC: http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_11761.html
It's only the Quadro3000($1,300) and higher.

The cheapest solution may be the new ATI Fire GL X3-256 which is about $900. A few people in the apple forums are using this and it works well.

There is a version of the Matrox Parhelia that claims to be dual-link but someone at the 2CPU forums who purchased it has not been able to get it working correctly.

Unfortunately, then you don't have the power to play games on your fancy new 30" LCD.

What do you mean by power?? I need a larger PSU?
I am already running an Antec TrueControl 550W.
What do I need to get next? Zippy 700W redundant??

i think he means processing power. the dual dvi cards aren?t necessarily the best for gaming, better for workstations.

You only need ONE dvi port to connect to the Apple behemoth.
The only problem is whether the dvi port is dual link or single link.
Seems like dual link dvi ports are only available on workstation graphics cards...which are so EXPENSIVE.

I can't buy the 6800 Ultra DDL from Apple's website either. I've learned that while it does sit in a standard AGP slot it also draws power from an ADC slot, something which PC motherboards will never have.

Exactly.

Although, isn't that 30" display some crazy ass resolution? Yeah here it is: 2560 x 1600. Even a top of the line gaming card could have a hard time pushing that resolution. These work station cards don't have a chance.

would this help:

The combination of the new PowerBook G4 with a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) port and the Apple DVI to ADC adapter brings the pure-digital viewing experience of Apple's professional-quality displays to PowerBook users. Now you can benefit from a larger viewing area when your PowerBook is at your office. The Apple DVI to ADC Adapter is also a great solution for Power Mac G4 users who need extra workspace of the highest visual quality. That wouldn't help. The Apple 30inch already uses DVI connectors.
That is for the old series which use ADC connectors, I am currently using one.

Apple motherboards have a 28V power slot right next to the AGP slot and the card physically plugs into both:
