I have a dell inspiron 3800, and I cant seem to get my s-video to work with my TV. The screen blinks, but doesnt transfer the signal over. What am I doing wrong?

It has an ATI mobility rage 2x with 8MB RAM

TIA

make sure you have the resolution (pixels 99999 X 99999) set to around 640 X 480 or 800 X 1020 or whatever the lowest setting is. TV's can not handle too many pixels and refresh rate should be 60 Khz at most. You may have to reboot after you plug it in.

Make sure you are using an output S-video plug and not an input svideo plug. They are different. I did this on a computer using an ATI Radeon 7000 VE. It worked pretty good to watch a DVD. Actually a cheap $60.00 DVD player from the video store would work better for watching DVD's. I just had to try it.
