No I wouldn't expect a replacement, hehe.

And why is the HP P1230 better, it's a Diamondtron and I thought the Trinitrons are nicer?

THANKS

They're generally comparable, but there are several generations of both tubes. The HP P1230 uses the final revision Superbright Diamondtron tube and has the superbright mode that makes a dramatic difference in games. The refresh rates are also slightly higher, pretty much the best out there.

Although that ebay one is a used model and I would be a little wary of the quality of those. It's unfortunately very common to get a dud with any of these CRTs when you buy a refurb or used one.

No, they were made by Mitsubishi. They stopped production in late 2004 unfortunately. :(

Yeah I thought that was who they where, I just couldn't remember.

Well besides the ebay ones for sale, I found one new for 499.95:

But the shippings going to kill me living in Hawaii, LOL

Total: $686.20

I mean IF it's a KILLER then I don't mind buying a new one, hmmm

Oh HELL I might just buy the HP L2335, you can get them now for like $840.

http://www.provantage.com/hewlett-packard-hp-p9615a8-aba~7HEWA130.htm

Oh and I found a $40 mail in rebate too:
http://www.nextag.com/HP-L2335-23-in--zz70913441z8zByz2--REBATE-html

That would make it $893.79 when I get the rebate back.

Found someone selling it on ebay, not sure I'd trust buying it from there, LOL.

ALOHA

P.S. How old are the L2335? And does HP have something newer to replace this soon? Because I don't want to end up getting this and HP is comging out with something in the next few months, or better technology 23" LCDs are coming soon, I'd rather wait.

It's one of those "side by side comparison" things. Generally speaking I have no complaints with my 19" 6 bit Acer LCD on standard analog input, but side by side with my old 17" Hansol Pro series and it's obvious that the CRT picture quality is better. Without it being side by side, don't notice it.

Yea same here, before getting a FW900 I had a Sony G520P CRT & 2001FP LCD side by side ... long story short I got rid of the LCD.

Hmmm.... ive had this Dell 2405FPW 24" LCD for a few months now, played all sorts of games with it, fear, tomb raider legend, oblivion, half life 2, COD2, etc etc etc, and i havent had any problems with it being able to keep up with displaying graphics, in fact this lcd has produced some of the best looking images and colors i have ever seen! :Q I havent seen any banding of tearing or whatever you guys see with other LCD's.

And no im not an LCD fanboy, my last monitor was a 21" Samsung 1100DF and that monitor kicked a$$. It just wasent big enough, and i kinda had my eye on this Dell (which really is a samsung LCD with a dell logo on it) since last year, the only reason i bought one now is there credit plan offered a $200 discount on it an no interest for 1 year. :D

The main problem with the 2405FPW is input lag associated with the S-PVA panel it uses ..this has been tested & proven on various forums.

Back when my P1110 still worked, it was a freakin' AWESOME monitor...it just looked amazing, vibrant, huge, sharp, just great. Too bad the flyback transformer went out. I'd gladly use it again.

If it doesn't then that's it for me on LCD's until SED's come out.....I think the one your looking at on Ebay uses a trinitron tube.....

I had that monitor... AMAZING. Best 19" CRT human beings have ever made.

I did drop it for a Samsung LCD though because I worried about eye-strain. I'm only 19 and I'm probably gonna be in front of a computer till the day I die so a LCD would probably be a safer bet for my eyes.
