I remember an episode of cops when a man tried this with a .22 and lived. He managed to call 911 with a mouth full of blood, almost no teeth and a small exit wound at the back of his head. When the cops showed up he was still alive and in pain.

ouch. they didn't edit that episode? :Q:p

They did have his face pixelated, but the cop described what he saw in the aftermath shot before they faded to the "COPS" logo.

My mom worked in the ER for a long time and told me some guy tried to kill himself and the bullet just got stuck in his brain. He was fully conscious and fine for the two weeks he was in there except he and this other guy got in an argument (the other guy had a heart attack I think) and she told me that before they seperated them the guy who got shot in the head said something about how the other guy was clearly defective and then the guy who had the heart attack said "Yeah, well at least I could kill myself properly if I tried"

That's true. If there isn't any trauma to the brain and you stay conscious, it hurts like hell. The brain itself doesn't have any pain receptors.

12 gauge buck shot to head...yeah,thats pretty much insta-death

Depends on how far away the shooter is from the target and what load of shot he's using.

Mr. Vice President, is that you?!

 He was probably using a game load, or birdshot, which are packed with much smaller pellets than buckshot.
