I got the ENP5140gh psu rma back from Enhance via ewiz. The -5v wire and sleeve inside the atx main power plug is missing. NO white wire in the 18 pin slot.

Can anyone tell me what would probably/possibly happen if I had connected this to my system?

This is manufacturing defect #2 now. This is simply unacceptable. I'm glad I spotted it though, should make taking them to court easier. First they mis-wire the 12v and 5v molex plugs and fry my hard drives/dvdrw/zip. Now they want to take my motherboard out.

Wow... you're really getting screwed!

NOT!

The -5V was removed from the ATX12V spec about three or four years ago. Even when it was part of the spec, it was only really used for pre-amp for on board sound.

MOST power supplies made today have absolutely NO -5V rail, no -5V wire and a void at the 24-pin where there would be a -5V.

Nope. Not anymore. Hasn't for a while.

I mean, it's an analog signal so there has to be some amplification, but nothing that requires a dedicated power source. It used to be you could run those little speakers w/o batteries or AC adapter, but these days ALL speakers are powered. Even if they're tiny speakers, they might use a USB port for power (like the little speakers eMachines come with) but that's it.

Crap, this means that Antec, Corsair, FSP, and Enhance have been screwing me all this time...!

Like jonny said, that white wire hasn't been there for a long time now.

And taking them to court? Please..... First it is a defect (yes sucks, but it happens even to the best), but that is one thing. The missing white wire would never have caused your PC to blow up even if it did need it. If you want to take a PSU maker to court that bad, take powmax :p
