Getting Rid of Old Laptop

I just bought a new laptop after the left hinge on my HP Pavilion dv9000 broke after three years of use. My question is: what is the best thing to do with the old laptop? The thing still runs perfectly and is still fast enough for most things, but the monitor requires complete support at all times, which is obviously annoying (and is the only reason I bought a new computer). Sorry if this is a repost, but I couldn't find anything discussing this topic, so here it is!

Donate it. There are plenty of disadvantaged kids who don't have any kind of computer whatsoever, and would love to even have that slow dinosaur that you're about to throw out. I've got a friend who volunteers for one of those organizations, and he even said he could find a good home for the 10 year old Pentium III laptop that my parents were about to throw out.

I always give mine to my kids or to someone less fortunate than I. You can also give it to a 501(C)3 and claim a tax deduction. I find selling is more trouble than it is worth.

What kind of organizations would take it?
