Getting rid of my trunk?

I am thinking about taking the trunk on my camaro and just putting 2 subs in it. I planned to just make a custom board that fits over the entire hole in the trunk with some clearance between the subs and the trunk lid.

Do I need to make a box or would the sides in the trunk seal in the subs so they sound somewhat decent?

Anyone ever done something like this? My trunk is basically wasted space filled with junk. I dont need a jack as I have road side assistance.

Make a box that is the proper size for your subs, the efficiency of the subs changes dramatically with the size of the box and having the wrong size air space can make them sound like crud.

make a box, they actually sell them premade with TTop holders built in. I think the company was called SubThump or something like that.

Look up the "Infinite Baffle". Technically, your trunk isn't an infinite baffle, but it'll be good enough. Most IB car setups replace the back seats with a panel that mounts the subs and amps on, then seals the trunk better.

Oh wait, you have a camaro... is that it in your av? Camaros like that have hatches not trunks, right? You'll need a box setup, then.

yeah... I'd make a box. I used to work at a custom car place. I never came across a camaro, but we did do subs in supercab trucks under the rear bench seat. My boss seemed to favor larger box with one sub over two with not large enough of a box to support them.

I'll be curious to see what you end up with as I may be getting a firebird soon.
