How do I change my settings so IE prompts you to download songs instead of playing them in IE?

If it's not a streaming vid (give us the link and we can tell you) then you can only right-click and save target as. That's the only way to be sure it won't play it instead of downloading.

I have never heard of a way to do it when clicking on a direct link like that (and mpg, avi, wmv, etc.)... "save target as" is your best bet. It's another reason why people .zip things.

Are you sure? I have ALWAYS been able to just download songs, now Quicktime screwed it up.

Because mp3 wasn't associated to anything before Quicktime, perhaps. Try deleting the mp3 association in "File Types" and see if IE asks you to download instead... I believe it should. BUT, when you click on the .mp3, it won't know what to play it with even after you download...

Excuse me for being a noob, but how do I do this?
Open Explorer (Not IE)/Tools/Folder Options/File Types/<Select the extension of the file>/Advanced

No just delete open. It should ask you the next time you open that type of file. You may also be able to put in "save", put I haven't played with this in awhile.
