Getting rid of generic Viagra junk email - Please Help!

Sorry, I know this is kind of stupid but...

I have been getting 2 or 3 of these emails a day, all from emails that don't exist, and all different addresses. I have no way of blocking them and need some help. The email links are below:

The "buy now" takes you to http://210.192.106.4/generic_viagra002/
The "remove me" --which doesn't work-- takes you to http://64.118.7.19/remove.htm

I searched for DNS entries and couldn't find them for either. I would really like any way to contact this company (short of ordering) so I can bitch and maybe even threaten a lawsuit. If anyone has ordered or can find a way to get some info on this company, it would be a great help!!!

thanks,
ak

Welcome to Spam Hell. Join the rest of us who have maintained the same e-mail address for more than a few years.

There aren't a lot of solutions. Unfortunately most of us just tolerate this and delete the junk. As you have noted, it is almost impossible to find out where the spam comes from. Even if you could identify the company and contact them, it wouldn't help since they just contract with a spam e-mailer. The e-mailers have no interest whatsoever in maintaining the mailing list since that takes time and money. In fact, replying to these messages to be removed merely confirms that your e-mail address is active and not blocked so that raises you to a more active mailing list.

If your e-mail client allows blocking by title content, you can block by words or phrases that no ligitimate e-mail would include. That will help some.

You can also change your e-mail address if it gets so bad you can't take it.

For those of you who don't have much of a problem yet, maintain two e-mail addresses. One is for real use. The other is for posting on bulletin boards, registering with web sites, etc. Use the first and go into the second once a week and delete all the e-mail without looking at it.
