You know when sometimes you get those infected taste buds or whatever the heck they are.... canker sores? Anyone know of a good way of getting rid of them? I usually pick at them too much and they just get worse or go away with time, but this one has been on my tongue a while.

not much you can do. Gargalling with seasalt/water mixture might help and there is one otc solution you can use to numb it, but I haven't been able to find it lately.

I just coat them with canker sore medicine until they go away. I hate those bloody things. Had them ever since I was a child though.

Actually, there is an oral rinse solution you can buy at the drugstore made by Colgate. That stuff works pretty well.

I get them a lot as well. As others havem entioned, there is canker sore medicine that you can get at any pharmacy/drug store. It numbs it and is really good for when trying to eat or just during the day when it is hurting really bad.

The only stuff I've ever found that works at actually coating the canker sores is a stuff called Rincnol that is made by GUM. It doesn't work on the ones on the tounge though, can't really bond to it or something.

Never had one on my tongue. Is that a typical place? I usually get them from chomping on my cheek or lip.

I have one right now on the inside of my upper lip area.

I currently am doing the salt water thing,
anbesol for the pain,
and Gly-Oxide is the oral rinse cleaner I currently use...seems to be working so far. OTC for about 7 bucks.

You can get these from chomping on the inside of your mouth? Well, that explains it. Stupid bored at work bad habit!

canker sores and herpes are not the samething.

glad someone realizes that.

saltwater is the best I've ever found for cankers, but I've never had one bad enough to make me think of going to the drug store.

I use Listerine... within a couple days they're almost completely healed... whenever it starts to bother me... rinse with Listerine. That spray you can get for sore throats helps to numb it too.
