Getting rid of Asus drivers - help.

I'm trying to change my drivers from the Asus 6.18's to the Nvidia 6.49's. I have the 6.49's installed now but can't get rid of the 6.18's. If I try to uninstall from Control Panel, the drivers are supposedly uninstalled and I am asked to restart. When I restart, Windows98 finds new hardware (vid card) and re-installs the Asus 6.18 drivers.

How can I clear these Asus drivers out? Or should I even care if they're still in there?

Yes, I changed to Standard PCI VGA Drivers first, then installed the Nvidia drivers. They seemed to install ok; Device Manager shows them. But I can't remove the old Asus drivers. Both sets of drivers are present in Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs. I click on Asus Display Drivers then Remove and Restart. When Windows reboots, there is a new hardware found message then Windows searches for and installs the old Asus drivers again - on top of the Nvidia ones and I have to start over again.

I've changed drivers before and don't remember having this problem. What am I missing?

It reinstalls them? You got me on that one. I think your computer is cursed. Time to exorcise it.
