Getting ready to update my opty 165

I do encode, i have 2gb of crucial 6400 to go with it...and 8800gt coming soon..I hope from Dell...

i currently have an opty 165, non oc'd, with a 7950 and a gb of memory....

running and will still run xp pro...

should i just keep the opty and use the new GCARD...? I got COD 4 and have not played it yet.

What would be the best recommendation here.

Honestly, your thread title vs. content is making me confused as to what you are asking.

If you're asking whether C2D or C2Q, i'd suggest quad if you game or encode stuff.

I'm not sure what the Opteron question is about?

If what you mean is you're going to run the 8800 GT with the Opteron till you get Core 2, it sounds good to me.

I was running an Opteron 165 + 2 GB DDR + my 8800 GTX for a while during my P5B's RMA, & aside from newer games that eat CPUs alive like UT3, it ran stuff beautifully.

I'm still running my Opteron 165 and plays nicely with most high end games. I have my Opteron overclocked to 2700.

Ah, the sage of linking comes forth with powers unbound...it is unfortunate that all the other threads in this forum that are asking for advice did not get the same linkage fervor that mine did...
