I want to use my Toshiba projector (TDP-S8U) to project the game on a big screen..

Last year we did so but we had to run a cable from the video out of a tv that surprisingly had a video out to the video in of the projector. It was a crappy composite connection but it worked. We also used the audio out of that tv to get the sound to computer speakers.

This year I wanna do better. I have seen these stand alone tuners like these:

Newegg: Kworld TVBox

KWorld TV Box - another one

I recollect trying something like this before, but all I got was a B&W image, no color image. I do not know why? I had it running VGA -> VGA and Component --> RGB (VGA) and all i got was a black image that rolled at times.

These things are supposed to work with monitors, why wouldnt it work with a projector?

I dont know if this is the right place to ask but its either this or not sure where..

What kind of connectors does your projector take and what kind of outputs do you get form your cable box or dish or whatever you have?

well since the house is not yet set, we dont know where its going to be at. I am taking my 100" screen and projector there. If the guy has a cable box, i can run it from the cable box video out. But if he does not or we are in a room then we might use an OTA feed to pick up the video.

The back of the projector has vga in (blue) and a black VGA out connector. Svideo in, Composite In, Audio in and out.

Buy a DVD recorder. They cost like $30 now, and come with TV tuners built in that will output to composite or svideo. That's how I watch TV on my projector.

I'll watch on a 129" screen in HD using a Panasonic projector and a HTPC equipped with a MYHD HD TV tuner card. Amateurs!

Look for a old voom satellite box on ebay or craigslist. Has a excellent ota hd tuner. Also has a analog ota tuner iirc.

Your problem is the VGA to component adapter. These adapters are made to work with specific video cards and they do not work for all VGA ports. The video formats aren't the same and therefore can't be interchanged via a simple adapter.

Topic: getting ready for the BIG game....

Yeah ... Carolina-Dook will be nastee :D

Fox broadcasts HD in 720p. CBS is 1080i. It appears your projector is 800x600 / 4:3. HD broadcasts are 16:9. So in addition to your cabling problem your aspect ratio is ... 'askew'

IF you are talking SD, you don't have a vhs player sitting around? if you want hd, you can always order a cheap as ATSC tuner for your pc.
