Getting ready for my next gen card.

I just recently purchased a BFG 6800GT Graphics card that is pre-flashed with an Ultra BIOS.
I am going to slap an nV Silencer 5 and some Artic Silver 5 on it, and bring the clock up
to 6800 Ultra stock or higher speeds, and BAM, I just bought a 6800 Ultra for a total of $385 😉

My specs are as follows:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
MSI K8T-Neo
512MB PC3200 CL3
(2x) 120GB SATA HDDs
BFG 6800 Ultra 😉

if irs flashed wit the ultra bios wont it be runnin ultra speeds anyway? u might eve manage ultra extreme speeds.....and BAM u got a card that doesnt exist!!! haha

Hope it doesnt fry in your face after a month 😛

Good luck, youll like the 6800gt.I got the XFX model and really enjoying it( no OC for me tho, dont wanna do that)

Ugh. Why would you want to flash a cards bios when you can so simply over clock it using kool bits?

Yeah, the BIOS upgrade gives you some more voltage to provide stability at higher clocks, hence the higher clocks of the Ultra. Thanks for the pictures of the nv5 Ronin, but thermal Benchmarks disagree.. I dont know though.. and a swift "haha.. jerk" to you for the X800 box 😉 Thanks.

Pavica, up to you, but I have a thermal diode reading temps on the card. I've done my tests, extensively, and my results don't lie *shrugs* I've been doing this a long time 🙂 You don't get a hardware collection like mine w/o knowing a thing or two 🙂

If your BFG is the one with the special heatsink/blue LEDs, then I think the nV Silencer will help out. From what I've read, the "special" heatsink doesn't run as cool as the reference model. Mine has hit like 83 degrees C during gaming/3DMark, and I think I've read of the Silencer bringing it down to ~55-60 degrees C under load. That or my memory is going ::shrugs::
