adj.

1. Happening every two weeks.
2. Happening twice a week; semiweekly.

Pretty confusing dual definition

Just suck it up and take 'fortnightly'; you know you want to. Don't worry, using ONE British word isn't going to dent your staunch sense of American individuality! You can still continue to spell colour 'color' and do all the other weird stuff that you do 😀

bimonthly is twice a month.

I get paid bimonthly... 15th and 30th of every month.

getting paid every 2 weeks, there will be a couple months where you receive 3 paychecks.

I'd go with biweekly 🙂

Funny you should ask this.

I work with a guy who does everything half-assed. One of his very minor responsibilities is to maintain those posters you see in the workplace that outline worker's comp and minimum wage and that sort of thing. One of the posters also gives guidelines to employers that pay weekly, once a month, semi-monthly, and there's one other but I forget what it is.

There's a blank line by each one and for semi-monthly there are supposed to be two dates. My buddy didn't actually read the poster so he just puts a check mark by semi-monthly.

Semi-monthly gets you paid 24 times a year. Bi-weekly gets you paid 26 times a year.
