Getting Outlook 203 to dump directly to a personal folder...

IT where I work has a size limit of what can be stored on the email server (my inbox). To circumvent this (and prevent reching my max allotted memory limit), I thought I could just divert all incoming emails to a "personal inbox" (that i could make as a subfolder under one of my personal folders), then write a diversion rule.

Or... Is there another/better way to do what I want to do (divert emails so I never get a "your box is full" message)?

Coming from IT, I can tell you there is a pretty easy solution.

Archive your emails. They will still be available and will be saved locally on your hard drive, and not on the server. You can setup automatic archiving after a certain date, or archive whenever you feel the need to.

In your Outlook folder list you should have Archive Folders listed there, when you archive your emails this is where they will go. Think of it as a mirror of your original mailbox, and you can be worry free of hitting your mailbox limit.

File -> Archive.

When you go to do this make sure you select your entire mailbox on the top, as this will archive everything there.

Take note that when you delete items in your Inbox, that you still have to empty your Deleted Items folder, as it's just like the Windows Recycle Bin, it's not gone until you empty it.

Archiving once a month is good practice if you receive a lot of emails.
