It's been a while since my last post, and have some news to report.
I've been using Linux exclusively for the past month (first Mandrake, then I got pissed and went with Debian). I found out how to accomplish EVERYTHING under Linux that I was doing under Windows 2000. It took a lot of reading and searching on the internet, but eventually I found answers to all of my questions.
Through all this, I reached a decision which I feel is going to benefit me greatly.
I no longer have any need of a computer. With my graduation from college in a month, I am done writing papers and conducting research. I have lost all interest in computer games, mp3's, etc. I realized that I have wasted a large portion of the past 10 years screwing around with computers. The only time I use them now is when I am at work (that's where I am writing this). My personal computer at home has been turned off for the past couple of days, and I have enjoyed having the extra time to myself.
I no longer have to worry about the petty arguements about which OS, or which video card, NTFS vs. FAT32, blah, blah, blah.
There are a few truths with computers that I have discovered through the years:
An Operating System is only as good as the person Administrating it.
No matter what, someone's hardware is better than yours.
People have different preferences, always have, always will; so stop trying to convert everyone.
Computers are obsolete as soon as you buy them, build them, think about them.
This will be my final post on this forum, or any other.
I have enjoyed your company while I was here. The large majority of you were helpful and friendly.
Jonitus...signing off.
