You're not alone OP, I absolutely hate that process as well. I always get up immediately and stake my claim in the aisle, and I will use my body to push my way into it if I have to. All I want is my own space, near my own seat...I don't get into anyone else's space but if they're in mine, they will need to move.

I have a coworker that has an irrational "fear" of this type of setting. Really, the fear is that he'll go to jail for beating someone's ass. He's a pretty big dude and he's told me several times that this is one of his true fears in the world...lol.

I sit and stay seated until the plane is almost empty. Really pisses the people sitting on the inside off. Its quite comicial

You're not serious, are you?

You agree with the OP's hatred of people who immediately get up, yet you're the exact person that the OP is talking about. Does not compute.

I will sit and wait until it's my turn, nothing I do is going to make the other people get off the plane any faster, but I do enjoy clobbering the person in the row behind me who tries to get off in front of me. Even if I'm standing up in an aisle seat and ready to go, I've had people try to do this. You wait your turn, fucker!

Mostly I generaly sit in the back so it works out. Also I will just sit and let the pushy people behind me go instead of standing up its easier to just let them past than cut in and push everything backwords

I just flew a few weeks ago with my disabled sister. She requires an airline wheelchair when flying and I have to board to do the transferring to the special chair and then to the airplane seat. We were the first ones one and the last ones off, so we're probably on 20-30 minutes longer than anyone else...

I went on a plane once (well technically 4, 2 to go and 2 back) and don't recall this experience, though I can definitely say I've seen it on buses. People get all pushy and rush to get into the isle first and push their way to the front. I don't really get it either. It's not like you have 30 seconds to leave and it's too bad for anyone left behind. :p "Sorry, we have to go to the next airport now, you were too slow. Maybe you'll be lucky on the return trip!" *shuts hatch, starts to take off*

best thing about most of those people is that they'll just be waiting longer at baggage claim.

So... people are horrible? My only experience is what I see and read on ATOT, and I would never have guessed! :D

I fly. Either domestically in tiny tubes with overhead bins that will hardly fit a laptop (planeside check-ins are free!), or in a 747 over the water.

If flying coach, my seat of choice on international flights is three rows from the back. On a 747, the fuselage narrows near the tail and instead of a 3-5-3 seat configuration, it narrows to 2-5-2. I sit in the second row after it narrows to 2 seats, and I sit next to the window. My legs fit in the area between the wall and the seat in front of me.

When we land, I fill out the immigration form on the tray table, I put in my earbuds, send text messages, check in on Twitter, and try to lock eyes with the hottest chick I can find.

I just start mooing, like the cattle that we are. I feel kind of dumb when there are attractive women on the plane, but I'll bet the cows being led to slaughter spot a hot heifer or two in aisles very similar to a disembark of a commercial aircraft.

Definitely annoying. How about just sitting your ass down for a few minutes, and go row by row when it's your row's turn? Nope, makes too much sense. I can see stretching your legs if you stand in place and not crowd the fucking aisle though.

I mean if you are in the aisle seat, you won't let the people sitting next to you in the window seat out until all the people in the rows behind you get out?

I take the bus to work. It's a park-and-ride, so everyone gets off at the parking lot. Starting from the front right, passangers get off in a snake-like format (front right, then front left, the second row right, second row left, etc). If you had to stand, you get to get off first. If you're a newbie and you try the plane technique, someone WILL point out to you that you need to wait your turn. It works. It works well and I could never understand how it works on a bus but doesn't work on a plane.

Thats exactly how people do it on my commute. We park at a park n ride and load the bus. Unloading is basically how you mentioned (sometimes a bit different if someone is being nice). Then we have a good 200 yard walk to the ferry. On that walk its considered pretty bad to run, walk, or cut in front of those who got off the bus before (since the ferry is small could bump them to waiting for the next one).

Its one thing ive noticed, people who do things everyday are much nicer and work together to keep things fast and fair.

THen again ive never had a problem on a flight but i almost always sit in like row 9 or 10 and i only have a backpack so when its my rows turn its quick and easy to hop up and get off

I just wait until there's space in the aisle, no hurry.
I've never heard people complaining though, they just turn on phones, receive texts and stuff.

On land transport I've never noticed anything related, except people crowding the doors 10 minutes before arrival if the train is late because they have to take a connection.

There are no rules, if you're a fast-walker you're going to get in first and that's it.

The only unspoken rule is to leave space on the left of the conveyor belt for people in a hurry who want to walk.

I'll get up and stretch my legs for a second, but in general, I just wait until the initial clusterfuck clears up. The plane isn't going to leave again without you, everyone will get off of it eventually.

I was last to leave the plain once, and I got chased by a fuckin' lion, with no help in sight. Thank Eris for the tree. That was the best tree I've ever seen.

I just push passed people like you and if I ate something noxious... watch out! Even if not you get a facefull of my ass. Sometimes I even rest a little against their face.

What I like the least are the people that rush up the aisle and don't let the row ahead go. Once that rush starts, everyone follows and you literally have to just step in front of someone. I have no problem doing that, though.

Yeah... ok. And you do realize that the aisle isn't nearly large enough for everyone to do the same, right? So essentially, you're just being an entitled and selfish prick?

Congrats.... I think.

I just sit in my chair and wait since I always like the window seat. Pointless to try and fight an unruly crowed of asshole travelers.

I do that for everything. Like a concert, or other big event. Everyone jumps in their car, and the lot's a clusterfuck of still cars. I'll sit there for a couple hours if I have to, maybe take a nap. I then get to leave an almost empty lot with blissful freedom, and not a single fuck given.
Used to do something similar back in the sixties, and early seventies at large concerts. However the real reason I did so was because I'd forgotten where I parked.
