Never understood this. We're 40 rows back, and the plane pulls up to the gate. Time for everyone to stand up, start smashing their way into the aisle, open the overhead bins, bring down their luggage on someone's head, and then stand there idle for 10 minutes, occasionally muttering to one another about how long it's taking (shocker! Given that it's only taken this long on every other flight you've ever been on!).
Just chill, folks. You're in a tube with a tiny aisle, one that hasn't even connected to the jetway yet. There are 175 people between you and the front of the aircraft, all of whom have their own luggage, some of whom having special needs (small children, elderly, handicapped, etc). I assure you it will be obvious when it's time to go, but it takes a second for all that traffic to move through. Just hang on a minute, sheesh.
