Getting Nothing

A couple weeks ago, my computer decided to die on me. Here's a description of what it was doing...
When i would turn it on, the power supply would run, and it would just barely begin to boot up when the led's would turn off, the boot up process would quit and it would simply be the power supply fan running.

My first thought was that it was a motherboard problem. But i talked to someone who told me that it could very well be that my power supply has gone bad and is no longer giving the juice it needs. So i bought a new power supply and installed it. Now, the computer doesn't even turn on. The power supply, when i push the start button, gives juice for a split second (the lcds come on then turn off). Is this a problem with the new power supply that's fresh out of the box? Is this indicative of another problem? Any help would be appreciated!

1) Type of computer ? Factory or Home-built .
Some factory unit have special pining for thr power leads.

2) RAM, everything loads through the memory.

Oh yes, I really hope you didn't plug an ATX power supply into a Dell-made motherboard. That would suck.

Sorry, Home Built
I ran a few tests, but became convinced it was a mobo issue - if i was wrong i'll post about it - but hopefully this works out - thanks guys!

Yeah, if it's a powersupply issue, it can cause a lot of different problems with your computer inclusive of frying your mobo. Good luck.
