I don't personally care for any of the LCD tvs I have seen, rear projectors included.

I much prefer DLP.

Go for it. Personally, I will never pay more than $300 for a TV.

Good books are free at your local library. ;)

I found it for $3000 CAD with a don't pay for a year. I find LCD has a much better picture than DLP.

Costco has a 500$ off coupong on the samsung 50inch dlp with stand from may 23rd to 29th which put it at around 2950$ tax in. (you pay taxes on 3000$ then remove 500$). If you play games, the DLP is likely a better choice.

I have the 60 inch version of that TV (last year's model PT-60LC13, no real differences though). I love it. Only thing is the bulb has already blown once. Was covered by warranty, but the warranty on the bulb is about up so I am worried it will happen again soon (they should last 2-3 years, mine barely made 6 months).

I'm so proud of you. You keep reading and believing that makes you a better person... and stop posting in this thread. We don't care.

I perfer DLP, it's one of the few non-CRT screens that I don't really notice deficiencies in.

you really might want to hold off on a large TV purchase for a couple months. I don't want to ruin anything, but it will be worth your wait.

I bought the Panasonic 50" DLP version. Looks exactly the same but in a DLP flavor. Seeing them side by side a couple times made it an easy pick for me. Still, you should get whatever looks best to you. I think I saw these (the LCD flavor) for $2499 regular price at Best Buy when I was looking a couple months ago. Sam's now carries the DLP version along with Tweeter and other specialty shops.

I personally didn't have enough space for a 1080p set (since most, if not all, do not come in sizes less than 56" or 60"). I also didn't have enough money for the 1 or 2 1080p sets that actually accepts 1080p signals (not that much of anything right now spits out 1080p).

I have the 50LC13. I like the TV a lot. I did have some problems with it but they were eventually resolved.

My friend has the 50LC14 and he really likes it. It does look like it has a slightly sharper picture than mine but its hard to tell since the signals could be different.

All in all, its a solid TV. I'm pretty happy with mine and haven't bothered looking to upgrade at all.

You don't have to work in the industry to know that 1080p is on the horizon, the mother of all resolutions.

Do Blu-Ray or HD-DVD support 1080p?

1080p is out right now. Check out the sets with 10,000 to 1 contrast ratios.

If you guys remember when I said that the price of DLP's was going to fall by $500, and it did within a week...then you will trust me on this. Prices are about to plunge.

I agree on the 1080p. Samsung has a crop of 1080p DLPs coming out this month if I'm not mistaken.

1080p compared to 1080i is like DVD quality vs standard off the air quality. There is a huge difference in PQ.
