If you do not get the keys back you need to get the locks changed on both vehicles.

Get new keys & keyfobs for both those cars

Do you have any idea how much money it's going to cost to have a Viper re-keyed?

Tire store, dropped car off in morning, left keys, store claimed couldn't find keys, car left at tire store for the night - wife out of town on business with only other set of keys, next morning car gone, police called, court case - tire store not responsible for theft, car eventually found out of state stripped to the frame. Still fighting with insurance for over two years for loss of over $25,000. Ins co. won't pay up because I voluntarilly left the car and keys with another party.
Never leave your car for maint. always wait around for it.
Insurance sucks - it's nothing but legalized blackmail

Wow, that is fvcked up. What kind of car was it ?

You left ALL your keys at the shop!? WTF were you thinking? So someone's walking around not only with your car keys but with your key fob, your house key, your office key (if you have one)...Smooth move, man.

I'm not saying he should pay it. But I would NOT fvcking leave those cars vulnerable like that thanks to a shop's screwup :| I would be so pissed off

Oh, I never argued that point either.

My suggestion is that they sign the deed to the shop over to Snow. :D

Why would you have to re-key the car? If you have a spare key just get a new one cut and be done with it. I have a single key on a ring just for when I get maintenance done on my car. No way I'm going to leave my key ring with them.

The only thing on the entire key chain that they can use is the SRT...

The key to the Viper, and my other car are useless to them if they are stolen because those cars are under a lot tighter security then a "Hey, I have the key"... I dont have my house key on there, and my office uses a swipe card which is in my wallet...

The reason you would want to have the car re-keyed is because the main key to the car is now missing... There are only 3 Vipers in this entire city, and the city isn't that big...

It would be very well worth their time to go around to the three cars and try the key in it until you found the right one...

You think your car is not going to get stolen because you are getting another set of keys driven to you and you are going to drive off? I think what people are implying is that they will steal your car(s) later. Not from the shop.

Edit: Spelling.

That's why you take it to the dealership, and have them re-key the car and provide me with a new set of keys... Charged to the company who lost my keys...

I'm not worried about the car once I get it back in my possession. I have a locked garage I can keep her safe in for the time being... :)

Well I dont need to get all technical and everything man... :) Let's just say that all cars involved in this are safe once they are back in my possession...

They're all right. They have your keys, they have your license plate, so they have your address. They can have your car. Better get it rekeyed soon.

Yes, I understand that... which is what I said earlier in the post... They have my CAR keys, and the address to my house... Like I said, the cars are safe once they are in my possession.

Thank you for your advice, but if you knew my location and situation you would understand that the cars are safe...

Well I got my car back, tires and alignment done... paid for it, whatever...

They are still looking for the keys, have an idea the car they might be in... one of the mechanics states he thinks he left them in another customers car because someone yelled at him or something and he forgot about them until someone said something about the SRT... so whatever...

Talked to the owner of the shop, he gave me a bunch of money off the tires and as well told me not to worry about any costs this is going to bring up - as he will personally cover everything that there is... I just need to bring him a bill and he'll pay it...

So I guess I wait and see... they are trying to track down the lady that owns the car they might be in and I'll see where that goes... I just hope they find them...

I'll make another update later when I hear more...

Had another key made for my 04 Ford F150 the other day. When you get a new key they have to program every old key and the truck to match the new key. Stops any old keys from popping up and working on my truck down the road.

Just wanted to give you guys an update on my key situation?

Still haven?t found them at the tire store, so today I informed them that they will need to be replaced. Went to the Chrysler Dealership and ordered the keys billed to the tire store.

SRT Key - $80 + $20 programming
SRT FOB - $140 + 20 programming
Jeep key - $80 + $20 programming
Viper key - $179.00 + $20 programming
Holly?s car - $5
My P.O.S Green car - $5

Plus they are going to re-code all of the keys and FOB?s to all of the cars at $20.00 each (6 in total) plus they have to book time in the shop to have the car sit in there to get reprogrammed? $40/hour for the shop time for each car, and each key and each FOB takes 20 minutes to program?

So considering it only takes 1 hour to re-program each car they are already up to $770.00 before taxes?

Amazing how much money ya got sitting in your pocket eh???
