I plan on getting a SSD to use as my boot drive and have a few programs and games. I also have other drives which I use as storage. My question is, would it be better to go with 256GB OR 512GB considering price difference isn't that big. And the guy that I know owns a shop that has Corsair, PNY and OCZ. Suggestions?

Bigger is always better, particularly in storage... go 512GB if money allows.

Given those choices, I would get a OCZ/Toshiba Arc100, but it's probably not going to be the best deal. The alternate would be the PNY XLR8.

Depends pretty much on the amount of software and games you install on that drive. Obviously everything you run from that drive will have much faster load speeds.
Im with Charlie, OCZ is now toshiba company that makes me much more confident when it comes to buy from them.

If the price per GB is less go for the larger one. SSDs will be usable as long as SATA is around... and it will for awhile. And this is coming from an NVMe fan.

I would agree with you if we were talking about all major SSD brands. Go with the cheapest of either the OCZ ARC or Crucial MX series. Quality and reliable..

I do hear ARC100 and MX100 are really good value for the money. If I were to choose from these two, how do I decide?

The MX100 is a heck of a bargain for a good SSD.

If you're choices are going to be limited to the Corsair, PNY and OCZ drives at your friend's shop, get the cheapest one.
