getting new mobo & cpu

Hey I am about to buy new mobo and cpu because I just shot my other stuff... anyway before I go ahead and purchase I was wondering if anyone could suggest something better for my needs or at least let me know if this is good enough. Basically I do a lot of 3d rendering with 3dsmax and cinema 4d plus I use photoshop blah blah blah... And my budget is around $200.

Thanks in advance

You might be better off getting the CPU from newegg too since their customer support is superior to most other companies.

An A64 2800+ will be a great CPU for 3dsmax and photoshop. for PS the main thing is to give it as much RAM as you can afford, at least 512 MB but preferably 1 GB if you work with large images.

I would have to agree. Y so low on the budget? I would say about doubel that would get you a very nice P4 and mobo combo.

Yeah thats what I wanted to hear... And I will be getting my cpu from newegg too.

It sounds like an upgrade, for $200,,,,,D845GV, 512MB (DDR-333), D Celeron 533 FSB, the 845GV graphics is 266 , same as 865G,, advantage,, 3 year warranty on Mobo and Processor, lifetime on memory.

I'd say that for rendering, P4's are slightly better than AMD's.
That's true, a $174 P4 2.8 will beat the $141 A64 2800+ for rendering : AnandTech A64 2800+

But both will still be fast, and for a tight budget you can put the $33 towards RAM

Well I just want something that can render well and times not that big a deal. As long as the A64 can handel all I give it and do its job better than my amd 800 mhz duron, then I will be fine.

you can check out the anandtech guides for choosing the parts you need.
even though i like AMD , i suggest fo 3dsmax go for a pentium machine.
i know how you feel me a student too and me also wants a supercomputer🙂 for a budget

I dont know.. I am looking around but its all overwhelming me.. Just TOO much stuff... I dont do too much hardware stuff.. not much shoping and comparing either.. I guess I could swing for a p4 .. could someone suggest a good motherboard to go with the p4.. again I only have like $220 🙁

thanks again

search "system" for last month's system buyer thread. The P4 motherboard recommended was a $76 Abit 865PE (newegg) but that would bring the total to $255.

Really, the A64 will work great and run 2-4 times as fast as your duron 800, the P4 would just be faster still.

cool.. thanks a lot guys! I just bought the a64 and mobo from the egg. only came to $187 with xtended warrenties. 😎

Just got my stuff and realized that I got an Athlon XP 2600 and not a 64, which is what I need for the chaintech mobo I got. So I have to choose what to send back to newegg.

CRAP!
