Have fun!

Really...i heard it's nothing bad. They freeze up your trap and it'll just feel weird, not hurt.

Please make them put you out. I was awake for the procedure and it wasn't the best experience. After the procedure, Vicadin is your best friend. ;)

I've once had an appointment in the afternoon, instead of the morning, to get two of my wisdom tooth pulled. Boy was it hell, it kept bleeding throughout the whole day and into the next morning before it closed!! So maybe my suggestion to you is to get your tooth/teeth pulled in the mornings when your internal system and blood flow is still weak and slow? By afternoon its pumping at full swing.

Just a thought,

My advice:

1) Insist on general anesthetic, re-schedule if necessary. I had one done under local, it sucked. (crack/pop/grind/splatter/grind/crack/tug/splatter/grind/pop/crack/etc)
2) Listen to their advice on straws and such, you don't want dry socket.
3) Strap ice packs to your head ASAP, keep them there. You'll look like a dumbass with a belt around your head but you won't have any swelling.

advice... don't eat the large pink mints in the bathroom after you have the teeth removed. :)

If your teeth are comming in straight, then don't worry too much. Make sure you have a general anesthetic, but that's about it. Straight teeth come out easily and heal quickly. Heck, I didn't even need stitches after I got 4 of mine out. If they're comming in crooked though, the others are right, make sure you have ice, a lot of liquid nutrients, a lot of pain killers, and plenty of time. Crooked wisdom teeth are pure agony.:(

I've taken two of my wisdom tooth out
the procedure was painless, but it stings a little bit after the anesthetic went off

to avoid puffing (and infection), ask ur doctor to prescribe some antibiotics, and take them about 3-4 days in advance regularly to avoid infection and inflammation (puffing) ...... I never had puffing in either opeartion....

also my doctor was pretty good, it was only a local anesthesic... I did not feel any pain at all (just felt the grinding of metal to my teeth)

after the teeth is taken out, there will be a hole, my dentist didnt stich up the hole because he said that it will fill up normally (better than stiching, because food can still slip by the stiches).... also my mom told me to take some chinese medicine to fasten up the recovery (I took yunan pai yao), I only did this for the second operation, and the hole filled up reallly quickly

I've had all 4 of mine out.

The top 2 were no problem. They practically fell out on their own. They were no work and no pain. However they also were not why I was there.

The bottom 2 were one of the worst experiences of my life.

I found out after the procedure that I'm resistant to the normal freezing agent they use and I was under local only, so I could feel most of they were doing. It was dulled from the freeze, but not enough to make it painless by any stretch.

Because I found out after, mine was probably worse than most people. But it was very long and very painful.

I agree with the insist on general, and reschedule if necessary.

for about 24 hours immediately after you are just blah if your even awake. its not that bad except i couldnt eat for a week. The first day is bad but the rest is fairly easy. Just take some time off and take it slow and easy

Getting mine removed was unpleasant, but I'm glad I got it done.

I never want to go under again though, I don't react well to anesthetic.

One thing that should really help....

Make sure you have four bags of frozen peas or corn in the freezer (seriously). They are the best for icing swollen parts of your body.

You need 4 because you will use 2 at a time (one on each side). The other 2 can be in the freezer. This helped me out a ton. Good luck.

Had mine taken out a few weeks ago. Bled like hell for the first day, but my bottom ones were growing more or less sideways, so I guess that's why. It took quite a while for even the numbness to go away, and by that point, I had a nice little bottle of vicodin nearby. Keep it iced up, and take some antibiotics. One of mine got a little infected (didn't hurt though, just oozed a little) so I had to get antibiotics a few days after the operation. It would probably be better to be taking them from the start. If you live with other people have them baby you and get as much as you can out of it. Rent some movies and relax for a while.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled out a month ago. I couldn't get Genera Anesthetics so I had to use local, it sure sucks hearing them drilling and cracking your teeth out, but no pain and you don't feel all sleepy afterwards.. Since my mouth was numb I was drooling blood and the gauze kept falling out without me knowing.. Now that my wisdom teeth are gone I don't feel the pressure of the teeting pushing against my back teeth, yay
