Hi, i've tried to search for a similar topic on the forum.. maybe its already been talked about but i havent found any solution yet...

I recently bought this webcam
http://www.uptec.com.hk/product/ipro/iprc%20NV-236m.htm

it says it should work with vista... and all the im programs out there..
so i installed the drivers from the cd.. and it does work...
however... only with AmCap (which is the only thing that came with it)
so i can get a video capture from AmCap...
but the program is that i cant seem to connect with Msn, Yahoo Messenger, QQ or just anything else at all...

so beside using this camera as a video capture tool....
i cant use it to web chats or just any type of video conferencing...

So if anyone knows of something i could do to make it work..
please... enlight me..

once again.. thanks for your time...

1. USB Webcams require a driver to work.
2. The driver must be installed and loaded.
3. Programs search for registered drivers to operate and use a shim to talk to them

The question is what does AmCap have that MSN, Yahoo, and everything else doesn't. Either it uses a generic driver that the others aren't picking up, or it actually houses part of the driver set somehow. It sounds like you're going to have to come up with a generic driver to use with the camera that's compatible with your other programs. Having said that, 'generic' drivers don't work with everything. You'll have to figure out what standards they used when they made your camera and find something similar that will work.

When the camera is plugged in, go into Device Manager and see if you can read what the device is showing up as. It will likely tell you the hardware information and version. From that, you can start searching for something that's compatible.
