Getting my USB flash stick with thumbprint reader to work

My flash drive is split into two partitions--a public and a private. To access the private, you need a thumbprint, but after I installed Vista, the thumbprint window isn't coming up when the drive is inserted. The thumbprint reader software is mounted to another drive but Vista isn't allowing me to access it.

Anyone have any idea what to do?
