my car was kicked, keyed, scratched, and even had a bicycle ridden on it.
I filed a claim. I went to two different shops and got estimates, with the most expensive being $1,600. This was to "make the car look like new"
Insurance claims agent comes out the next day, starts looking around the car, asks if I have a lien on it, I say yes, and he says "well it needs to look like new." He starts looking around and taking pictures of every little scratch, dent, etc.. even stuff that was obvious normal wear and tear. Says, lets make it look like new. Then says he doesn't want to cut me a check made out to the shop of my choice only to have to drive 45 minutes to argue over $200. I didn't know what he was talking about until he gave me a check made out to the shop I chose, for $2,500! He says, there that should cover it... and takes off..
So I go to the shop, and the guy is like, I'll have it looking like new for $1,200. I haven't told him how much the check was for, so I ask, how much for a entire new paint job, with a custom color, etc.. He says, another grand.. So, for a new paint job and full repairs I was looking at $2,300.
Anyways
Before - > linky
Almost done - > linky 2
the last pic is before any clear coat, metal flake, and "halo" paint which will make it subtly reflect a different shade of red in low light..
I'm going to pick it up today.. (its like 3am workin the graveyard shift)
