getting my 1200 going again

I am thinking of putting my system back into my older Antec 1200 now that I can keep my pc off the floor. Here are my questions about what to do.

First, I am thinking of getting a 5.25" bay device to put some hard drives in. I have a 5970 for a video card and that means the middle 3.5" drive cage won't be housing any drives. Does anyone know what 5.25" bay cage is well made and looks good with the 1200?

Second, I ended up putting Yate Loon High speed fans (120x25mm) in the 1200 to replace the stock ones. I now understand that might have been a bad idea for noise. I was either going to put Gentle Typhoons in there to replace the Yates, or the medium speed Yates if not the Zalman quiet fans. Do any of those three outdo the others? Or is there a fan I should add to my list for great intake fans?

Third and final question, my 1200 has a spot for a door fan. What's a good fan for the door that isn't too loud, and should it be intake or exhaust? Thanks very much for reading. I appreciate any advice.

You don't want to use the stock drive cages for the harddrives?

If you want to save money, just undervolt the Yate Loons or buy a fan controller.

I can use two of the stock cages. The middle cage will have a video card protruding into it, so I need somewhere else to keep some drives. My case is usually a tangle of wires in certain spots, I was trying to avoid a fan controller but it looks like the most logical move.

Dorkenstein,

Here is an Antec 1200 HDD with air filter and fan.

Regarding your intake/exhaust question. Most of the Antec 1200 owners with high end video cards use the side panel fan as a intake. I would personally test out the system and use it as a intake first to see if changes the temps on your system and then do the same with the exhaust.

hehe ok so how many drives do you have? why not swap the top and bottom 3.5" so you can use the top one for drives too.. side fan of course intake, you can put zalman fan controllers on teh right side behind mobo i do that on most my antec 1200's for cpu and gfx card fans etc or can add little resistor in the cable.
