Hi all,
I have a generic USB 2.0 external HDD kit. I also bought a 100gb HDD at the same time, (it's not labeled, but i think it's a maxtor refurb or something).
I have two 40gb Western Digitals in my case.
Thing is, no matter what i try I can't get the 100gb to pull up in the HDD.
The USB 2.0 card is working (verified it with my pen drive).
I want to use the 100gb in the external, as I store music on it, and need to be able to bring it with me as I DJ regularly with my laptop, and need to be able to share this 100gb of music between both systems (laptop is only used for gigs, while my desktop is my 'studio' machine)
What i have tried doing is switching the jumper cable to Cable Select / Slave / Master... as well as not putting the jumper on at all.
The real kicker is that if i switch out the 100gb for my 40gb slave, all three work fine. that is, the 40gb with the jumper on slave in the external kit is instantly recognized by windows and loads a drive in my computer... and the 100gb is picked up too. the other way, the 100gb is not recogized in the hdd kit, but the 40gb (obviously) is recognized from inside the case....
What do you think is causing this, and how can i get the 100gb to work in my exnternal HDD?
My eternal thanks to all how can help me.
