I now have RH 8.0 up and running on my machine. But the problem is that it just sits there with the Engine initializing....

I updated the file via RPM and it doesn't seem to have did any good. I am going to go crazy!

You should have tried Mandrake 9, instead of RH8. It automatically detected my network settings and got me connected to the Internet during the install procedure! :) Oh, and FWIW, I love the Linux DF client - its ~30% faster than the Windows CLI! :D

What you have to do is start the client in "cli" mode.

From a console window type the following:

"./D2OL controller:cli" (without the quotes)

The client should now start up properly and register itself!

From the console window you can type "ta" to either bring up the Agent gui window or shut it down or type "?" for a list of commands.

Did ya try that?

Well Im sorry TeAm mates but I tried to get D2OL to run on my best two boxes with Mandrake 8.1 for whatever reason these bastages WILL NOT fill thier cues.. they continuously run out or dont load at all. I managed to get two whole cands all afternoon to crunch with the P4 BOX. I CANNOT conitnously reinstall and create false nodes on my profile. Unless someone can recommend a proven version of NIX I can go out and buy tonite that WILL WORK with the latest version Im out and will have to go back to slow mo Windows. I was hoping to double production as I also have two more setups coming to load up with D2OL but hell I cant gain performance if I have no candidates in que to crunch can !? I am one frustrated SOB right now. I am trying to decide what to do so as to not cause a large loss in production for more than a day.,, Today is pathetic! :|

Go back to Windows for a while if you have to, just to keep your production up. Im waiting on parts for a Linux box, and until I get those I am almost useless as far as troubleshooting this goes. When I get the parts, I will try to write up a how-to or something with various OSes (RH 8, Mandrake 9, whatever else I get around to..).

For not, all I know of to recommend is making sure you have that library installed. So unless this is a linux problem, Im stumped :p

Well what gets me is that it worked great on the earlier verson of D2OL.. If I could get that version back I would be fine. :( I would install a library but I dont know jack about how to do it or what it even is or where, or what version I need. I am using Mandrake 8.1

Thanks for helping us out and doing that for us! I just hate to think Im going to have to reinstall at least twice more to go back to windows and then back to linux when resolved

You may need to install libstdc++.so.3. So got o rpmfind.net and search for that. When you do that, you should find one Mandrake .rpm. Download it, install it, and restart the D2OL client. See if that helps.

Download it to a directory that you would noramlly do that to. I use "/usr/local/downloads"...

]# mkdir /usr/local/downloads
]# cd /usr/local/downloads
]# ftp ftp.stealth.net
>ftp anonymous
>ftp myemail@myisp.com
>ftp cd Mandrake
>ftp cd 9.0
>ftp cd i586
>ftp cd Mandrake
>ftp cd RPMS
>ftp binary
>ftp get libstdc++5-3.2-1mdk.i586.rpm
>ftp bye
]# rpm -ipvh libstdc++5-3.2-1mdk.i586.rpm

See what that does.

Actually all I had to do is download the file you linked me too and click on it. There is an rpm installer in the OS.. took only a minute.
