Getting into Canada from the US...what will I need?

Going to Montreal for the weekend, and I needed to make sure I had the right things to get across the boarder. From what I've been told, I'll need my license and my birth certificate, right? My G/F who is also goin has no birth certificate, but she has a passport, will we both be ok to pass over the boarder???

I've crossed the border 100s of times and have never had to show any ID. I've never carried a passport or a birth certificate, just a license.

You should be okay unless you look like a dope fiend or something.

The only time I had trouble is when I was going from Seattle to Vancouver in a rented Olds Bravada with tinted windows. I giot the third degree both coming and going.
