Getting interference...on an audio cable?

I'm having some issues with an audio cable, and I'm wondering if it's possibly due to interference, or if the cable is simply faulty.

Some info:
- The audio cable in question is connected between my sound card and my TV. It's about 6 feet long, and it has regular 3.5mm plugs on either end.
- The cable is inside a plastic wire loom along with a VGA cable and a coaxial TV antenna cable.
- The problem is that the sound completely cuts out sometimes. Tugging on the audio cable or prodding either of the two end plugs fixes it. This happens with both of my sound cards. No issues with losing sound when I'm using headphones.

Are the VGA and/or antenna cables interfering with the audio cable? Or is my audio cable in need of replacement?

bad dirty plug sockets.
try a different audio cable. its unlikely to be interference if tugging solves it

Is there no sound when it cuts out until you tug?
Interference cannot do that.

Cable is damaged, cable is making poor connection to one or both sockets, or device(s) attached to cable is/are damaged. The problem you describe is not consistent with interference on analog audio.

Well, it seems unlikely that both of the sound cards have damaged output ports, especially when they work flawlessly with my headset. And I'm kind of doubtful that the audio input port on the TV is damaged since wiggling either end of the cable, not just the TV end, seems to fix it.

Edit: Oh, and I tried cleaning the ends of the plugs with some rubber alcohol -- didn't help.

So I guess the cable is the most likely culprit. I just went ahead and ordered this el cheapo cable to replace it...hopefully that'll do the trick.
