Wouldn't know. One car has a keypad with a code that I can use and the other two have driver's side doors that cannot be locked unless they are closed and latched, which means I can't lock it and then close it.

You have to be licensed to use a slim jim (legally) in Oregon.

In IL they will open it, but it costs like $50!

I would think it's a lot more effective to open the door of a vehicle for a person locked out, rather than towing it somwhere..

Slim jims don't always work though. Dad got locked out of his van once and even a locksmith couldn't open the door. Ended up breaking the window if I recall correctly.

I used to work for Pop A Lock. There were maybe two types of car that I couldn't get into, and most of the time it was due to the alarm system, and both of them were expensive euro cars like Volvo's and Merc's........ Mind you, I was a "Professional" and I had a three inch thick book with instructions, but ever since I keep a kit in my car and have done a few "On the Side" entry jobs for people who are locked out, and beleive it or not, Half of them were with small children locked in................... cops and/or firemen do carry tools to get in, but usually they will only do it in emergency situations......... A) they don't want to be liable, B) the private joints get pissed by losing business.. I'm not real sure on the legality of owning a "Slim Jim" in variouos states, but you can get a cheapo tool set from the sportsmans guide for like fifteen bucks.....

Last time I was locked out, they wouldnt use a slim jim on any door with power locks, which is just about every damn door nowadays.

Interesting. I was just curious as I see lots of people at parking garages who lost their keys or locked them in their cars. What about those feeler guns? European cars with special laser cuts keys must be interesting to get into!
