I have a 320GB Western Digital Elements external hard drive and it seems that when I near full capacity, it gets I/O writing errors. I notice this due to I put what I download via uTorrent and uTorrent reports the error then proceeds to quit writing to the hard drive.
When I first bought the drive, I got these errors a lot. I simply bought a new USB cord and it fixed it right away... but this is about a year and half later. I deleted some movies I've already seen off the hard drive (about 30GB) worth and it seemed to write about 25GB more on the hard drive perfectly before it started spitting the errors back.
Right now it's 40GB away from it's full capacity, annoying to say the least, since 40GB can go a bit far when I am now mostly downloading albums.
Any ideas? Could there maybe be some bad sectors or something?
