Getting HL2 onto DVD from the CDs

I'm planning on buying some new memory soon (I think) and I see that Newegg has 2x512 Kingston PC3200 w/HL2 for $268. Not a great deal on memory by itself, but I was planning on buying HL2 anyway, provided I could get it onto DVD. I know you can do this with Steam, but if I have to install it from cds, I want to do it one time and then burn the folder to DVD. 🙂 Can I do this or am I just asking too much?

yeah you can do that Just burn the entire Steam folder to DVD but delete the clientregistry.blob file in the steam root directory. I would also guess that you would have the backup option through steam I'm not possitive though.

Once HL2 is activated, you can right click on it in the "Play Games" menu and select "Backup game files". Then, you can chooses CD or DVD formats.
