Getting high-quality fans with low shipping cost? And what brand?

Hi,

I'd like to put a few more fans into my server case. I'd need one or two 80mm ones and I would like to put a 120mm one at my three harddrives.

I am willing to spend some money on the quietest ones I can get but I wouldn't like to spend $20 on shipping. Can you recommend a shop which has nice ones for low shipping cost?

What brand do you recommend for quiet fans?

And special recommendations to keep harddrives cool? I figure that one small one for each drive is not a good idea since smaller fans tend to make a lot more noise. Correct?

EDITed to add that this is a big tower, even bigger than a normal full tower and that I know my PSU, my CPU and my harddrives are quiet. Not sure about the video cards. Also, manual RPM control does not work for me since this computer can come under heavy load when I am not at home. RPM control would be fine but only if it's automatic.

Thanks
Martin

Panaflo l1a fans are the fan of choice for those in pursuit of silence. You can get them here for about $6 each. Shipping for 10 of them was about $10.

You can shop around but you won't beat the performance of the panaflo.

was faced witht the same problem... reasonable prices for stuff at newegg but shipping would nail you.... checked pcextreme site out... prices are high and shipping is reasonable.... go figure...lol

The name of this game is "trade-offs". I keep a database of resellers, many located out of state, some in-state, and generally, all over the country.

If, for instance, you ship from NY to CA, you pay no CA sales tax. If you ship from within CA to a CA location, you pay sales tax, but shipping is likely to be faster and cheaper. ZipZoomFly, for instance, ships from the Bay Area, and offers "2nd Day Free Shipping" on many items, but you pay CA tax.

Often, I find good prices "in-state" for "no-shipping", so it is not a simple question of "tax avoidance".

Here are some resellers:

www.ewiz.com
(CA?)
www.zipzoomfly.com
(CA)
www.newegg.com
(CA and NJ)
www.svc.com
(CA)
www.infotechnow.com
(WA)
www.frozencpu.com
(NY)
www.compuplus.com
(NY)
www.axiontech.com
(TX)
www.spartantech.com
(IL?)

You're best to check "resellerratings.com" before giving personal info and credit-card information to resellers you've never heard of. I came across a guy in NY who seemed to be running a credit-card scam. Be-lieve meee. I and my credit-card company were all over him and the NY State's Attorney General like flies on a dead bunny, like white on rice, . . . . .
