I just got the Plextor 12/10/32. I have a K7V that has one primary and one secondary IDE terminal on the motherboard. The primary has a UDMA66 Maxtor 27gig on it set as Master. The secondary has the Plextor on it set as master. I'm trying to get my Pioneer 10X DVD set as slave to share the IDE66 with the harddrive. The problem I'm getting is during boot up. During the dos screen during boot up it doesn't detect any drives. It's says "none". Then I get a message saying that I need to insert the boot disk. System stops booting from there. If I just unplug the DVD drive, it will boot fine so I'm guessing the conflict is with the sharing of the IDE. I am using the ata66 cable on the primary IDE.
Could there be a setting in the bios that might help? I've read that sharing an ata33 with the harddrive will slow it down. I just wanted to set it up this way so that I could backup cd directly from the dvdrom to the plextor without copying the image to the harddrive first.
